We have been situated in our current site on Regent Road, in Altrincham, for over 40 years with the original practice based in central Manchester prior to then. We are a multi-award-winning independent practice that aim to offer unrivalled care, services and products to all those to come to us
Our Altrincham practice
The practice has always been at the forefront of contact lens development and conducted the first clinical trials of the Acuvue Disposable Contact Lens, allowing our patients to be the first in the world to enjoy their benefits. We continue to drive our dedication through investment in the latest and most specialist technologies, to provide the highest level of care for our patients.
Maskell + Josephson prides itself on constantly investing in the latest technology, equipment and training so that we can always offer the very best in eye care and eye wear.
The result of over 50 years of development is a practice that takes each individual’s needs on board when trying to assess their ocular health and work out their best optical requirements. This takes into account the latest technologies available for eye-health screening as well as in spectacles (frames and lenses) and in contact lenses.
In December 2016 Ross Maskell decided it was time to start planning his retirement and by May 2017 the business was taken over by Ross’s colleague Anthony Josephson. Mr Maskell fully retired at the end of October 2017. The practice philosophy remains the same: to offer the very best clinical care and a fantastic range of products to suit each individual’s preferences.

Anthony Josephson
How long have you worked in optics?

What’s one thing within the practice that you really love?
I love that I get to work with such a brilliant team of people offering a level of eyecare and eyewear services that go way above and beyond what the norm is in this industry. I love that we can offer treatments for dry eyes, and dry macular degeneration that very few can, and fit contact lenses that very few can and offer quality eyewear that very few do.
What is your favourite brand of spectacles that we offer?

What do you enjoy doing when not in work?
I am a very keen amateur theatre actor and director and try and get involved with a couple of productions a year, when not battling the time demands of helping look after my two young kids and running a business.
Benjamin Radivan
How long have you worked in optics?
14 years.
What’s one thing within the practice that you really love?
What I enjoy most about my role is the variety it brings and the opportunity to make a real difference to patients’ lives. Whether it’s fitting scleral lenses or providing tailored dry eye treatments, I find it rewarding to go beyond the routine and offer care that truly enhances comfort and vision.

What do you enjoy doing when not in work?
I love planning my next holiday and exploring the world.
Caitlin Love
How long have you worked in optics?
5 years, having graduated with an MSci degree in 2024.
What’s one thing within the practice that you really love?
Dry eye treatments and contact lenses.

What do you enjoy doing when not in work?
Playing netball and going for hikes.

What’s one thing within the practice that you really love?
I love choosing new and exciting frames to add to our stock and helping patients find the ones that make them feel confident.

What do you enjoy doing when not in work?
In my free time I enjoy going on long walks with my dog and exploring new places, socialising whilst trying out different bars and restaurants and travelling on holiday whenever I can.
